The deep drainage is now complete and the Hydro Brake cast in-situ manhole is ready to be concreted.

The car parking bays have been formed and the block Pavia to this area completed.

Also prepared are the cycle shed base and the bin store base. The boundary wall has been constructed just leaving the tango fencing to be fixed to it.
Inside the Flats, decoration is imminent as the electric and gas is up and running, testing is complete and the units and vinyl are protected. Most of the vinyl has been laid and the joiners only have shelving to put up and some kitchen unit ironmongery to do after decoration.

The deep drainage is all but complete only 1 manhole to construct which is to start next week; we are on with the gully connections for the new roads and parking bays working our way out of site. We are starting the construction of a retaining wall next week to tie in with half term because the wall falls on the boundary of the site and the footpath, with fewer footfalls to the school we felt it was the right time to be working along that boundary.

Our first floor flats are ready to be handed over to the decorators, just got to fill the systems with water and check for leaks before decorating can take place, all first floor systems will be filled next week and boiler fired up for the first time, 2 of the 8 flats have had the electrics checked for faults and passed so fingers crossed for the remaining 6.

The weather has definitely been on our side this week and we have been busy with our drainage both off-site and on-site. We have already made our connection onto the existing sewer for our discharge for the surface water and are busy constructing reinforced manholes and laying 525mm dia concrete pipes. All the services are now on, the last was the electricity meters that have gone in today so we’ll have power to the plots so that the internals can be progressed a bit more easily.

We are getting very close for the first floor flats to be handed over to the decorators, just a final snag to go and then they can be given over to complete the flats. We have our floor coverings down in our bathrooms and kitchens ready for the wc’s to be fitted.

Monday, 28 January 2013

As you can imagine the weather has been a big inconvenience to anyone working outdoors, but we have persevered and have managed to complete all of plot drainage and are ready to start our off site works on Monday. Our Gas meters have been installed and the electricity is due to go on Friday next week.

Inside we have pushed on and installed 50% of our kitchens and bathrooms, the tilers are on site tiling the kitchen and bathrooms we are looking forward to when we can release the plots for final decorations, which should only be approximately a week from completing the first plot.

Monday, 7 January 2013

It’s our first week back after the Christmas break and we are hard at it, installing the flagged footpath to the rear of the properties and shaping up the car park at the side of one of the wheelchair units.
The Rainwater Hrvesting Tnk has been installed ready for the completion of the surface water drainage, this tank will provide roof water for the ground floor flats to flush their toilets, thereby reducing the amount of water being discharged to the surface water drainage system.
The off site utility works hit a bit of a snag before Christmas the Gas Main works had to be abandoned due to the nature of the ground they were digging through, so it was decided to backfill and try again in the New Year.

We have 6 plots fully plastered with only 2 to go, our Joiners are in fixing skirting, architrave, and kitchens, next week and our M&E contractor will be just ahead plumbing in the kitchen and bathrooms.

We’re looking good and hope for a smooth run to the end.

We are committed to being a good neighbour and to be considerate for the areas in which we build. Field Head site is in very close proximity with the Junior and Primary school of St’ John's so we have planned a visit from our Site Safety Advisor, Ivor Goodsite who will meet the children just before they break up for half term so that he can talk to them about the hazards that building sites can pose but also to launch a painting competition for over the half term, the winner’s design will be painted onto the site hoarding.

The Wates team and our sub-contractors would like to thank you for your continued patience whilst we have been on site at Field Head.

Our site will close for the Christmas period on Friday 21 December, and will re-open in the new year on Wednesday 2 January.

Can we also take this opportunity to wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

This week the weather has been a bit on the cold side making work outside unpleasant but we still managed to get our water services connected and remove our scaffold steps to the plots, replacing them with stone to provide easy access for the workers on site. Off site utility works are starting w/c 17th December to lay the Gas Main and Electricity supply, the new kerb line has been marked out and the trench duct is ready for the service to be laid.

Scaffold steps removed and stone replaced, the site will look its more orderly self by the end of next week and all the service trenches can be backfilled.

We have 2 plots fully plastered and ready, our Joiners are in fixing skirting and architrave, the M&E contractor only has to pipe in the gas service to the plots, then the Dry-liners can close-up the internal ceilings ready for plastering and mist coating.
